Round Ten - Knox 2

Will's worries that his increasing age would make him less attractive to the cute blondes of Virtue Falls proved unfounded. Even random girls passing by the house couldn't resist his charms - apparently he was a bit of a local legend.

If Elle knew he was still being a lecherous cad she showed no signs of it. She was all sweetness and light with him.

Elle put all of her efforts into being the perfect wife and mother. Just because Will wasn't father-of-the-year material didn't mean Adeola couldn't have a great childhood. She made sure there was a nice hot meal on the table every night.

Unfortunately, Will's behaviour did seem to have affected Adeola a little.

"Daddy, do you love ALL those ladies?"

"...what ladies, Addie?"

"The ladies you talk to!"

Elle sat there in silence.

Not long after, Elle found out she was pregnant again. She approached Will nervously, reluctant to interrupt his dance practice but knowing it had to be done.

"Honey, we're going to have another baby!"

"What?! I'm too old for this! How could you be so stupid?"

Elle panicked. That wasn't quite the response she'd been hoping for.

Elle spent most of her first two trimesters being ignored and feeling down. Was it really so terrible that they were going to have another child? She'd always dreamed of having two or three children, a white picket fences kind of life.

Adeola didn't seem to have reacted much one way or another to the news she was going to get a baby brother or sister. She was nearing her teen years and was already running up huge phone bills. It could only get worse...

Note: Elle's had the Have A Baby want locked since Adeola was a toddler - I'm surprised it took this long!

Round Nine - Straight

The Straights were enjoying life in their new farmhouse on the outskirts of the town. Lisa was still perfecting her art - she was so close to the top of her career she could almost taste it!

The twins weren't quite as serious as their parents or older brother - they loved to gossip and tell secrets to each other.

Cameron had decided he wanted to follow in his mother's footsteps and become a City Planner someday too. His natural skills lay more with mechanics than art but he was trying his best - architecture demanded at lease SOME artistic skill.

However, his natural gift for tinkering meant that he was the one who usually ended up having to deal with the old farmhouse's cantankerous plumbing.

Taylor had struck up a friendship with Elle Knox, and had to admit to himself that she was very attractive. Secretly, she agreed, but they were both married and staunch Family-types so nothing would ever happen.

Despite their occasional laziness in the area of academics both Douglas and Caitlyn were soon getting excellent report cards. The combined forces of Lisa, Taylor AND Cameron helping them learn how to study couldn't have resulted in anything less.

Caitlyn had made friends with Zillah Knox. They were very similar in many respects, although Zillah was more outgoing and had some crazy ideas about the paranormal that didn't fit into Caitlyn's more practical world-view.

Lisa was busy at work and was often out all day. The kids would stop whatever they were doing to welcome her back home.

Lisa and Taylor both reached retirement age. Taylor was keen to collect his pension but Lisa pointed out they needed more money - even though she had no plans to retire soon, they weren't going to be able to get the house absolutely perfect on her salary alone. She had dreams of getting her children into private school someday and giving them the opportunities she'd never had and hadn't been able to give her first son, Ewan.

Round Nine - Knox 2

Adeola was growing up fast. She was an absolutely beautiful little girl who greatly resembled her father, which kept Elle from getting too angry at him.

This was probably a good thing. Will was enjoying the last few years of his youth by increasing the intensity of his womanising. His passion for blondes would never die down.

And even when he was engaging in extramarital shenanigans, he gained new admirers. Maybe this getting old thing wouldn't be TOO bad...

Elle wasn't entirely convinced. She had struck up an acquaintance with Will's stepmother, Kaylynn, and eventually she dared to ask the widow's opinion of her step-son.

"I am not getting involved," said Kaylynn firmly. "I know he's had a past, but I'm not in a position to tell you what's going on. We've barely talked in years."

"I'm sorry..."

"It's okay, sweetheart. Just... keep an eye on him."

Unfortunately Elle couldn't keep an eye on Will 24/7 - she DID have a job to go to. Will used his time taking care of Adeola while Elle was at work to swiftly romance the maid.

He was successful, as ever.

Adeola soon started school and Elle never wasted a moment with her. Her little girl was growing up so fast!

Will had also had a birthday. He stared at the mirror despondently as he brushed his teeth. When did he get so old? And who would want an old codger like him? He sighed. It was likely he'd be stuck with just Elle... unless he could find some young ladies who found grey hair "distinguished".

Round Eight - Knox 2

Will may have been an expectant father, and he may have had a wedding band on his finger, but that didn't seem to be able to stop him from his womanising. A simple trip to his favourite club became an impromptu party when a singer he'd appeared in a video turned up with her entourage, which included three cute blondes who were very conspicuously not his wife.

Will kept his distance for a while, jumping into the DJ booth and spinning a few tunes. He had a great time - maybe that was the next step for him once his dance career was over? He'd be an elder soon and his joints weren't what they once were, but he still had music (and cool) in his veins.

His fun didn't end when he let the resident DJ get back in the booth and do her thing - a request for a slow song here, a few words in the ear of a pretty lady there... the night ended with him and the three blondes all in one hot tub. What a party!

Will wasn't so good at keeping his other indiscretions secret. Jill turned up in the apartment one morning wearing nothing but a tiny silk nightie, and Will was powerless to resist. Unfortunately Elle chose that moment to emerge from the bedroom, yawning and rubbing sleep from her eyes, and saw them canoodling in a corner.

She didn't wait to consider her options and went straight for the jugular, delivering a mighty slap to Will.

"You lying scumbag! In OUR apartment, while I'm pregnant with YOUR child!"

Jill giggled.

"And YOU! I thought you were my FRIEND!" yelled Elle. This was becoming quite a pattern for the red-head, it seemed - her inability to keep her hands off other people's husbands was indeed becoming legendary in the clubs and pubs downtown.

Once she had forcefully shown Jill the door, Elle turned her rage back on Will. "You aren't allowed to see her anymore!"

"Aren't ALLOWED?! Or what?"

"Or I'm leaving, and I'm taking my baby."

Will could almost see the ghost of his father frowning at him. He must be rolling in his grave. He sighed. "Okay, honey."

Will threw himself into his career, and was away with a dancing troupe when Elle went into labour. It was actually Jill who rushed her to the hospital, perhaps returning the favour for how helpful Elle had been regarding the birth of her twins. Maybe she even felt remorse.

Elle gave birth to a little girl called Adeola. She may have still been absolutely furious with Will, but she couldn't be angry with his daughter, even if she did look exactly like him. She was just so adorable! Elle could hardly believe she'd grown something so pretty inside of her for 9 months.

Elle took on all of the baby-care and as many chores as she could handle, working off her aggression by being the perfect housewife. Will stayed as far away as possible.

After a while, though, he dared to approach his wife, bringing a peacemaking gift of an expensive rose. She was very touched. Her anger had been ebbing away; she was just so tired of the animosity, and she had to admit Will had kept his side of the bargain. She hadn't seen Jill around since the ultimatum.

She still monopolised Adeola's time, but not maliciously. It was just that she loved her little bundle of joy, and Will wasn't naturally one for midnight feedings, diaper changes and getting puked on, regardless of how cute the puker was.

But as Adeola got older, she got a little more interesting to her dad. She was like a mini-girl-version of him! And toddlers were fun. Now she was potty trained and didn't throw up so much he could concentrate on the important things, like teaching her nursery rhymes and how to play the xylophone. He'd make a musical superstar out of her yet!

But the new domestic bliss couldn't last. Elle cornered her husband as he attempted to get to the coffee machine before a hard day's work rehearsing for the latest music video. "Will, we need to talk. We can't live in this apartment forever. I think we need to get out of the city, go somewhere our daughter can run around and play. Plus that little witch Jill is still lurking around..."

"But we can't afford - "

"Save it. We are MOVING. My great-uncle just died and left me enough money for a house in his will. If you're too much of a cheating low-life to do this for me, at least do it for Adeola's sake."

Elle chose their new house, of course. It was her money. She went with a pretty (if a bit ostentatious) cottage far away from the temptations that lay down town, complete with a small garden with a swing-set. It was perfect for her and Adeola. Will, on the other hand, felt awful. He was getting old, his romancing days seemed to be reaching a close, he was banned from having any contact with Jill, AND he was stuck in the suburbs. He'd never felt so trapped before in his entire life.

Notes: Dammit Jill! Ah well, it was a good excuse to move them to a proper house. This is the second time she's stolen a friend's husband, and the second time she's autonomously flirted with them and caused a slap-fest... remember? She was Sabrina's friend too, once upon a time. Oh treachery, thy name is Jill.

Round Seven - Davies 2

To outside eyes, Jill and James were completely incomprehensible. Two flirty, cheating slackers, married and about to bring two innocent children in the world does seem like a recipe for trouble in anyone's books. But to them it all made sense. Sure, Jill had rekindled her affair with Will, and James didn't look likely to grow out of the mistakes he'd made in his first marriage, but they still loved each other.

Jill was trying to cover up her infidelity by making friends with Elle. Seeing as she'd previously hated Elle and got into several fights with her a more... perceptive husband may have suspected her motives, but "sensitive" and "emotionally intelligent" were not words anyone could use to describe James.

"You're absolutely glowing! Pregnancy suits you!" declared Jill.

"Um... thanks?" Elle was more than a little surprised by Jill's change in attitude, but she was a positive and friendly soul and her endless naivety allowed her to only see good in making friends. Plus she could do with the support of a fellow expectant mother.

James was surprisingly enthusiastic about the upcoming birth of twins considering how negligent a parent he'd been to his already-existing children. He couldn't wait to teach them how to play his synthesiser, and Jill was already talking about enrolling them in dance classes the moment they learned how to walk.

James's star was still rising in the world of parties. He was very close to being able to pack all the odd-jobs in and becoming a professional party guest. Flirting with the young ladies who gave him rides home helped his enthusiasm.

He'd also bumped into an old flame from a few years ago and they'd had a pleasant conversation with more than a little suggestion and innuendo. It put a spring in his step. Of course, he'd have to be careful Jill never saw any of this unless he really wanted a black eye.

Jill ended up going into labour mid-conversation with Elle in the middle of the lobby. James was nowhere to be found as Elle found a telephone and called a taxi to the hospital.

Jill had twin girls named Leah and Nicole. Everyone in the apartment was delighted to meet them when she brought them home; they looked positively angelic, identical blonde girls with their father's very pale skin.

Jill found that, although she was far from a "natural" mother and still not very maternal, caring for little babies wasn't as hard as she'd feared it would be. They were too cute for her to hate them! Plus she made James do all the diaper-changing. That helped her opinion.

Being friends with Elle lead to more than a few awkward situations. She'd visit unannounced and bring Will with her, and Jill couldn't resist being a little tactless.

"How's everything with you and James? Not living up to his reputation, I hope," said Elle delicately.

"Of course not, I know how to keep my man happy. Will would know all about that..."

"What?" Will gulped and Elle looked confused.

Jill smirked. "Being kept happy. You're such a great couple!"

Will sighed. Yep, DEFINITELY playing with fire.

The girls grew quickly. They were still almost identical, with only slight differences in nose-shape to tell them apart. Their personalities were similar too; both outgoing, grouchy, difficult little toddlers.
