Round Ten - Nakamura

Hiro and Destiny's efforts to conceive had finally paid off. Destiny wasn't sure if the morning sickness was worth it and kind of wished Hiro could share her nauseous suffering.

Sachiko's cooking skills had not improved with age and she yet again almost burned down the house trying to cook a simple meal. She was henceforth banned from the kitchen - not for the first time.

Shiina brought her family around to visit and Sachiko finally got to meet her grandson. Jin was very polite and friendly, if boisterous. Gabe was clearly being a good father figure to him, in Sachiko's eyes.

Hiro wasn't quite so quick to accept his future brother-in-law and gave him a quick grilling. Thankfully he passed the big brother test and they got on famously.

"Will we be expecting the pitter-patter of tiny feet soon?" asked Sachiko. Shiina rolled her eyes.

"We've only just gotten engaged! Can't you at least finish nagging me about the wedding before you start on me about more grandkids?."

"I know, I know... it's just that I missed out on so much with Jin."

Destiny's pregnancy was progressing and she'd temporarily given up on styling her hair beyond relaxing it. She may have been tired, hungry and cranky, but there was no WAY pregnancy was going to get in the way of her playing pool!

Destiny eventually gave birth to a beautiful little girl named Momo, and invited her whole family around to meet her.

They seemed thrilled, with the exception of Amanda. Yet another thing to get in the way of her planned conquest of Hiro!

No-one was more thrilled than Nobuo and Sachiko, though. A grandchild in the house! Sure, they had Jin, but they hadn't been able to be involved in his early years. They wouldn't make that mistake with Momo.

Note: Amanda came over, started a slapping match with Nobuo, yelled at Adam and was generally very mean autonomously. She has more issues than the Daily Prophet.

Round Ten - Davies

Sabrina was happy to welcome her extended family in for a visit when they unexpectedly dropped by. Destiny may not have been her biological daughter but she cared for her as if she were one of her own and it was good to see her and her in-laws, the Nakamuras.

They had a good gossip while Hiro monopolised the computer. Unfortunately Jasper was at work so he couldn't catch up with his daughter but Sabrina promised to make him phone them as soon as he got back.

Zillah was an extremely gorgeous teenager but she wasn't all that interested in romance; she much preferred the concept of making as many platonic friends as possible and working on her music and painting. Romance was nothing but trouble as far as she was concerned.

Her point was proved when Amanda came downstairs from a work-out session and spotted Hiro. They hadn't seen each other since Amanda was a teenager and Hiro couldn't help being impressed at how Amanda had grown. He hated to admit it, but his sister-in-law was hot.

Unfortunately for Amanda, her lustful looks didn't go unnoticed. After the Nakamuras left, Adam confronted her.

"What on earth do you think you're doing?! That's your step-sister's husband!"

Amanda tried to play the innocent. "Me? He was the one doing all the looking. I swear I would never do anything like that!"

Adam wasn't entirely convinced but he wasn't about to start an all-out physical confrontation - Amanda was extremely into fitness and would probably kick him to the curb in seconds. "Yeah, well, you'd better not," he muttered, and wandered off.

Amanda was upset and called up Ewan Mackenzie. Yeah, he was married, but whenever they talked, sparks flew.

"My family's being insufferable! They all hate me... I haven't even done anything wrong. I don't suppose you could come over? I just feel so lonely."

"Not right now, I'm home alone looking after Bryce... I'll come over first thing tomorrow, okay?"

"Okay."

Amanda hung up and smirked. So much for the institution of marriage - Ewan would be putty in her hands.

And he was. Within moments of arriving, they started an affair.

Sabrina and Jasper were at work and the teenagers were at school so Amanda was left alone to seduce him and things quickly moved to the bedroom.

Afterwards, Amanda felt a little guilt. She was just as bad as Jill, the woman who'd wrecked her parents' marriage... but whatever. It was James and Jill's fault she was like this, not hers.

Sabrina soon entered into elderhood and retired from her job, finally becoming the stay-at-home mother she'd always wanted to be. She loved all her children but no-one could deny that she especially doted on Adam - he was her only son and was always happy to get a good meal.

Note: Amanda and Hiro have three bolts, so it was all I could do to keep them apart while the whole Nakamura family were visiting. Amanda and Ewan have two, and have already fallen in love with each other. Oh the drama X_X

Round Nine - Straight

The Straights were enjoying life in their new farmhouse on the outskirts of the town. Lisa was still perfecting her art - she was so close to the top of her career she could almost taste it!

The twins weren't quite as serious as their parents or older brother - they loved to gossip and tell secrets to each other.

Cameron had decided he wanted to follow in his mother's footsteps and become a City Planner someday too. His natural skills lay more with mechanics than art but he was trying his best - architecture demanded at lease SOME artistic skill.

However, his natural gift for tinkering meant that he was the one who usually ended up having to deal with the old farmhouse's cantankerous plumbing.

Taylor had struck up a friendship with Elle Knox, and had to admit to himself that she was very attractive. Secretly, she agreed, but they were both married and staunch Family-types so nothing would ever happen.

Despite their occasional laziness in the area of academics both Douglas and Caitlyn were soon getting excellent report cards. The combined forces of Lisa, Taylor AND Cameron helping them learn how to study couldn't have resulted in anything less.

Caitlyn had made friends with Zillah Knox. They were very similar in many respects, although Zillah was more outgoing and had some crazy ideas about the paranormal that didn't fit into Caitlyn's more practical world-view.

Lisa was busy at work and was often out all day. The kids would stop whatever they were doing to welcome her back home.

Lisa and Taylor both reached retirement age. Taylor was keen to collect his pension but Lisa pointed out they needed more money - even though she had no plans to retire soon, they weren't going to be able to get the house absolutely perfect on her salary alone. She had dreams of getting her children into private school someday and giving them the opportunities she'd never had and hadn't been able to give her first son, Ewan.

Round Nine - Davies

It was hard for their parents to not think of Adam and Zillah as twins. Even though Adam was older and Zillah was adopted, they were inseparable. They had very different interests - Zillah was loud and into arts and crafts, while Adam was a little quieter and more into reading - but they supported each other's efforts tirelessly.

It wasn't long until both Adam and Zillah were getting top marks at school, and Sabrina couldn't have been happier.

But Grade A report cards weren't the only thing they brought home from school. They'd struck up an acquaintance with Leah Davies.

Sabrina kept her distance - after all, Leah was the daughter of her ex-husband and ex-best friend, notorious husband-stealer Jill. But the kids agreed it was nonsensical - why shouldn't they be friends? Just because their mum and Leah's dad used to be married didn't mean they couldn't talk to each other.

Jasper had reached elderhood and made it to the top of the business world, collected from his still-modest home every day by helicopter. He had plenty of cash to improve the place or even move somewhere bigger but that wasn't on his mind - he was putting it aside so his children, not just the biological ones but his step-daughters and adopted daughter, could have enough money to start out as well as possible in the world.

But Amanda wasn't content with the easy life Sabrina and Jasper provided for her. She was constantly sneaking out after curfew with various friends and it was inevitable she'd get caught out eventually.

She thought she'd gotten away with it, but the next morning Jasper cornered her before school.

"Where were you last night?" he demanded. Amanda rolled her eyes.

"I was out on a date. Jeez, way to overreact..."

"I'm not overreacting - you were brought home in a police car!"

"Whatever! I'm not a little kid anymore, I'm nearly legally an adult. Anyway, you're not my real dad, you can't boss me around."

"That's it, young lady. You think you can just swan in and out of here as if it's a hotel, knowing that your mother and I will give you enough money to get a place in the city and keep living like this, never having to be responsible. But that stops here. You are not seeing a penny from me, and you can stay here under this roof and under my supervision until you get your act together!"

Amanda graduated but her attitude didn't change any. Just because Jasper and Sabrina were on her case constantly didn't mean she was going to change who she was... she was going to be the hottest, most desired woman in town and no-one could stand in her way.

Note: Jasper's not the only person Amanda has spontaneously started arguments and fights with - she's poked Hiro and refuses all positive interactions with Zillah and Adam... it's kinda sad. But at least this one plays into the story - Amanda has to stay because this is the Davies house and she's the only one here who still has that surname!

Round Eight - Davies

Sabrina and Jasper still wanted more children - every time they looked at little Adam they were more and more sure. But they were getting on in years and the likelihood of Sabrina conceiving was pretty much nil.

So, they made their decision. They were going to adopt.

Once all the paperwork and checks on their home-life had gone through, they welcomed little Zillah to the family. She looked a lot like Amanda, with her pale skin and dark hair.

She was very shy at first and Sabrina found it difficult to get her to learn her alphabet, but she soon warmed to her new parents and turned out to be a very happy, bubbly toddler.

She was always smiling and adored getting hugs from Sabrina and Jasper. She didn't look quite like the rest of the family - her eyes were very different - but she fit in perfectly anyway.

Amanda was less pleased with the new addition.

"It's not fair!" she shouted at her friend while playing video games. "It's bad enough I had to deal with a new little brother, but this is too much!"

Her friend rolled her eyes and just kept playing.

"STOP IGNORING ME!"

Amanda soon came out of her sulk when her step-aunt and BFF Ruth came to visit. Amanda was completely befuddled by Ruth coming out as a lesbian (not that she'd made a big deal of it - it was just a fact of life with her!). But boys were cute! Ruth just rolled her eyes.

Boys were indeed Amanda's weakness. She played all cute and sweet and coy with them; she wasn't manipulative on purpose, it just seemed to happen. Every time she met a new boy it was the same old story. She never dated them steadily enough for them to see the real her.

Adam's first day of school soon swung around. He wasn't very outgoing but at the same time having conversations with new people didn't send him into panic, and he could already hold up his end of a discussion.

He loved science and nature, much preferring his ant farm to playing rough and tumble with the other kids.

Zillah started school not long after. She was becoming a very beautiful young lady and didn't have a mean bone in her body. She and Adam were inseparable; it was almost as if they were twins.

Notes: Sabrina's want for another baby just wouldn't go away! But then I remembered... I made several batches of kids with randomly assigned personalities and put them in my little orphanarium so any future gay couples can adopt them. And thus Zillah joined the family.
